WHY LIFE GROUPS? LEAD A GROUP FAQ OUR TEAM LEADER RESOURCES YOUNG ADULTS

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.  HEBREWS 10:24-25

why Life Groups?

We believe God wants every person to Grow Together: grow closer to God and grow closer to each other in a small group of people.

At One Family Church, we call these groups "Life Groups." This is an opportunity to meet with 3-12 people on a regular basis. This is where we know others, and we are known.

As our church grows larger, Life Groups are how we grow smaller. This is more important now than ever before.

LEAD A GROUP

New leader onboarding is held in January, May and August each year in anticipation of the upcoming semester. We recommend attending a New Leader Info Session before you submit your Leader Application.

All leaders commit to upholding the Dream Team Honor Code and Leadership Expectations.

Leading a Life Group isn't about being perfect; it's about serving others by giving them a place to grow together.  Leading a group is simple - you choose a topic that interests you and select a time and location.  Our team will give you essential training and resources to make your Life Group successful.  We believe lives are transformed in Life Groups, and as a Life Group leader you get to play a vital role in people growing together!

If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together.

Common Questions

  • All groups include Prayer, Scripture, and an Activity or Study. Groups gather together on a semester-basis to grow closer to God and closer to each other in relationship.

  • Groups meet regularly and consistently. Our recommendation is that all groups have a weekly in-person gathering for 1.5-2 hours. Another easy way to connect is to attend our weekly Sunday Celebration together!

  • The short answer is just about anywhere. We have groups hosting in homes, coffee shops, parks, and church campuses.

We have found that having a “regular” meeting location helps with consistency and lessens potential confusion.

  • Most Life Groups meet for a semester. This way, new people can join groups easily and regularly. Also, the semester format allows you to try multiple groups each year. As relationships form, some groups choose to stay together for consecutive semesters, but new members are always welcome.

  • Yes and no. Leaders determine if childcare with be offered. In the directory, you can use a filter option to find groups that offer childcare. In most cases, there is a cost for childcare. Contact the group leader for specifics.

  • The truth is, not everyone will find the best fit with the first group they try.  We've found that some groups take longer to connect and go deeper than others, so we encourage members to "stick with it" to give the group a fair shot. If it's not the group for you, select another group next semester. In our Life Group Directory, the filters can help you narrow down the groups to find a group that might fit you well. The simple strategy to finding success in Life Groups is to not give up. We believe there is a group that is right for everyone—including you!

  • All requirements for leadership & "spiritually sensitive roles" are found www.onefamilychurch.com/LIFEGROUPS. All leaders must be a member of One Family Church through Next Steps Dinner, and commit to the Dream Team Honor Code & Leadership Expectations. All new leaders are reviewed and approved by church leadership.

  • “Spiritually sensitive roles” are roles where you are directly influencing others in their faith walk, including leadership

positions. Church leaders and those in spiritually sensitive roles are held to a higher standard. They provide an example for

the entire church family and have direct influence on others in their faith journey and spiritual growth.

  • Leader application and application deadline is found at onefamilychurch.com/LIFEGROUPS. Leaders are onboarded in the month leading up the semester. See below for the timeline.

  • You should complete the Leadership Application. We have approved curriculums (ex. Sunday Deep Dive, Bible Study)

that you can use. Our team can help you flesh out and solidfy the details of your group.

  • Groups operate on a semester basis. See the diagram below for specifics.
