In every generation there are topics that rise to the forefront of everyone's mind. Topics that are particularly pressing and urgent in the moment. Three highly relevant topics in our current cultural moment are race, sex, and politics. We believe it is important for the Church to provide clarity around these difficult and complex topics. Below you will find three sermons from our lead pastor on the subject "Race, Sex, and Politics in the Church."

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2

Jesus had a vision of ethnic unity. His vision was that all believers from around the globe would ultimately unite as one family to love God and love one another. His vision is spelled out in the last book of the Bible where it says that a great multitude from every nation, tribe, ethnicity and language, would gather before God and cry out with a loud voice, “salvation belongs to our God!” Not only did Jesus have a vision of what he wanted his followers to achieve, he also gave us a strategy to achieve it.

I pray also for those who will believe in me . . . that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. . . . I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one—I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. JOHN 17: 20 - 23 NIV

There’s almost nothing more personal, private, and intimate than sex. Sex is a deeply sensitive topic, and one that can make many people uncomfortable. Yet the Bible speaks candidly and openly about sex. The New Testament calls Christians to fidelity within the covenant of marriage between a man and a woman, or chastity in singleness. But why?

In this sermon, we explore the question of why God cares about what we do with our bodies. We pray that this teaching will bring clarity and encouragement to anyone who seeks to honor God with their body.

As a nation, we are extremely polarized along political lines. Even the Christian Church is divided hotly along political lines. How should followers of Jesus relate to one another when we disagree so deeply about politics? If Jesus were here, would he choose a political side? If so, which side? Join us as we take a deep dive into what Jesus has to teach us about our relationship to politics, and more importantly about our relationship to him!
